sporto istorija statusas T sritis Kūno kultūra ir sportas apibrėžtis Istorijos ir sporto mokslo sritis – apibendrintas kūno kultūros ir sporto ištakų, plėtros, tendencijų aprašomasis ir analitinis tyrimas, kurio objektas yra įvairių epochų vaikų, karių taip pat kitų gyventojų sluoksnių fizinis lavinimas ir rengimas, higienos ir gydomieji fiziniai pratimai, žaidimai, tradicinės tautų varžybos, sporto idealai, laimėjimai, varžybų formos ir rūšys, materialinė visuomenės bazė, tautos papročiai ir sąlygos, turėję įtakos kūno kultūros ir sporto plėtotei. Sporto istoriją sudaro senųjų laikų, visų pirma senovės Graikijos, Romos kūno kultūros (IV a. pr. Kr. – 476 m.), viduramžių (V–XVI a.), naujųjų laikų (XVII – XIX a.), naujausiųjų laikų (nuo XX a. pradžios) kūno kultūros ir sporto istorija. atitikmenys: angl. sports history vok.
